Hunger games!

Hello again!
We had an amazing meeting with other Live interaction with Yle-groups last week where we could share our ideas and start focusing in some for the mid-pitching event!

Although we are pretty sad of not be able to present all our ideas, we decided to focus in our "Hunger games" idea. Don't be afraid! If you have watched the film or read the books, we are not planning to hurt our competitors :D. We want to give the audience a chance to change the course of the show! How? Well, we know that you do not want to spend your money for buying a t-shirt for the competitors, but we are planning to give you virtual points from as usual action as watching a show! Now you can turn watching TV into a big game!

By using the points you collect you can help competitors by "buying" them items, trainers etc. with your points. You are also able to vote what's going to happen in shows: what kind of tasks you want competitors to perform, what kind of ending or twist in the plot you want to see.You can also collect point from commenting a show, inviting your friends to watch shows as well as using Yle Arenas online services. The more active you are, the more points you have, and so the more you can influence shows. You can combine your points with other peoples if you don't have enough points to perform the action you want.

Register in the Yle website, create your account, and start winning points. Link with your social media account and let your friends to see what you are watching, and see what they are watching. And this is only a start, the possibilities are limitless!

Next step
Next we are going to create some scenarios based on our idea and prepare our 3-minute mid-pitching speech to get some feedback.

Playbook review, demola jam and pitching!

Last two weeks saw a lot of action at Demola and our team was able to get a lot a value from it.

Playbook reviewWe had a good playbook review with our coordinator Janne and our partner Arttu. Having this discussion with our peer group helped us to share and improve our understanding on the goals of the project and the target audience. We were able to list down improvements to be made on our playbook. The review session ended with a really useful talk with our partner who encouraged us to go to the streets and understand the behavior of the target audience.

Demola Jam : We had lot of activities in this event such as prototype building, pitching ( 5 sec, 30 sec and 1 min) and user interviews&feedback. Unfortunately, we do not have any pictures of our prototype, but we think we managed to express the main goal of our project with it.

We had prepared a questionnaire earlier for conducting user interviews. It also included some of our basic ideas for sole purpose of getting feedback. We went to a nearby mall to do the interview which gave us a lot of insight on how the users perceived the whole concept of live interaction. We got really valuable and varying feedback from different people which  we later shared with our peer team as well. As our partner said, we could obtain good results from the interviews and even though it led to the killing of some of our darling ideas, it gave us a better perspective for future ideas. Also, we got really good feedback including some of our ideas in the questionnaire.

Finally, last Wednesday we did our pitching event, where we wanted to show the audience what “live interaction” means and how it will affect their lives in the TV context. We came up with the idea of letting the audience interact in our pitching and let them to select who will give the pitching. We think that we were able to transmit our goal.

Working hours so far

Next step
We wish to perform one more brainstorming activity with colleagues and potential users before starting to build scenarios and mockups based on our ideas. The long term plan would be get these mockups for field testing and reiterate the whole process.
